The short version

Where the pool work comes from

I started my career in Florida, on pools, where they are not a summer job and the work runs all year. Several a day, every day, for long enough that it stopped being a specialism and became the thing I am fastest at. Back in the valley that is unusual: pool work here is seasonal, so most shops see a few a year. It means the dealers have somewhere to send an install that cannot wait, and it means a homeowner with a twenty year old pool has someone who will actually check the bond rather than shrug at it.

And why lighting

Lighting is the other end of the same instinct. Permanent roofline lighting, landscape runs, sensors and timers: work where the result is visible every evening and the difference between a good install and a cheap one shows up two winters later. It is satisfying work, and there is not much of it being done well locally.
